The Magic of Mynydd Parys
Mynydd Parys Mountain, Anglesey
The ancient Welsh copper mine is steeped in history. It was once the world's largest copper mine. A perfect place to capture fine art landscape photography.
I set out from my home in the small village of Dwyran. It was a beautiful day, clear blue skies, the winter light hanging low sweeping its golden glow across the Isle of Anglesey.
The landscape of the island, its native name Ynys Mon is relatively flat with its narrow winding lanes that meander through the splendid rural countryside. About 20 minutes drive north I see on the horizon the tower standing proud against its ancient orange copper landscape. I arrive within a couple of hours from when the final light dims from the day.
The walk from the van is easygoing. A steady incline. It's a pleasant place to take the dogs, and the family or to gain some solace. Fine views across the sea.
The tower like a sand castle stands at the summit, highlighted by the golden rays of light. The contrasts are strong with its edges silhouetted against the skyline and the views across to Eryri.
The lens of my camera enjoys the dance of light, shadows, and the warmness of its colours - the magic of Mynydd Parys.
